Privacy statement

Protecting your personal data is important to us, which is why we want to inform you about which data we store when you visit our website, why we do it, and when the data is deleted. Personal data is all information relating to a named or identifiable person. This includes name, address and telephone number, as well as the IP address of the computer you use to access our website.

2. Data protection officer

 We have not appointed a data protection officer.

3. Technical data

When you visit our website, general data and information is stored in the server’s log files. This may include your browser type and version, your operating system, the website from which you accessed our website, the date and time you accessed our website, your Internet Protocol address (IP address) used at the time of access, and your Internet Service Provider.

Collecting data is a technical requirement for correctly transferring website content requested by you, and is mandatory when using the Internet. The server log files’ data is stored separately from all other personal data entered elsewhere by data subject. We do not create any links to the data subject when using this general data and information.

The data is processed in accordance with Art. 1(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is based on the fact that you would be unable to access our website without the data being temporarily stored.

The aforementioned technical data is deleted after three days, unless we state in this privacy statement that the data may be needed for other purposes (e.g. analysis).

Providing this technical data is not required by law or contract, nor is it required for the conclusion of a contract. You are not obligated to provide the personal data. If your system does not provide all or part of the required information, it may be fully or partly impossible to access our website.

4. Use of cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are text files sent by our web server to your browser when you visit our website, and which your browser then keeps on your computer for subsequent visits. Your name is not transmitted here.

You can choose whether or not we can use cookies by configuring your browser‘s settings accordingly. You can fully disable the storage of cookies in your browser, limit it to certain websites or configure your browser so that you are automatically notified when a cookie needs to be created.

Cookies help track users’ activity on a website. When cookies are used, data to identify the user, even if anonymized, may sometimes be processed.

This processing occurs in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest pursued by the processing lies in tailoring our website to market needs, and identifying the website pages accessed by you.

Insofar as cookies are used by us, they are automatically deleted at the end of the browser session or after a set time. Your browser provides detailed information on the cookies we use. Cookies can also be removed manually by your system using your browser’s delete function.

The use of cookies is not required by law or contract, nor is it required for the conclusion of a contract. You are not obligated to provide the personal data. If, however, you do not allow them to be used, this may result in some of the website’s functions not working properly or at all and/or certain content not being displayed properly or at all.

5. Integration of third-party content

Our website contains integrated content provided not by us but by third parties. When you visit our website, this content is automatically retreived from an external server without you noticing. To ensure your web browser can display such information, it not only needs to access our website, but also the pages from which the content originates. As such, you also provide the technical data mentioned in no. 3 to the third-party.

We have integrated a virtual showroom service which provides an overview of our exhibitors’ products. This service is provided by the Swiss company Architonic AG. For more information see their privacy statement. In some cases, the virtual showroom may send your data to Architonic AG to process requests. Architonic AG will then in turn forward this data to the relevant Design Post exhibitor if this is necessary to process the relevant request. Only the data required for the processing will be forwarded. Architonic AG uses Google Analytics in the virtual showroom. This is a web analysis service run by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies stored on your computer to enable website usage to be analyzed. The information generated by these cookies (time, location, pages visited, and anonymised IP address) is sent to Google and stored in the USA. Google uses the information to analyze the use of the virtual showroom and to compile reports for Architonic AG based on this. Google offers a tool for most common browsers, which can be used to disable Google Analytics.

We have also integrated fonts provided by fonts.com. The service is provided by the US company Monotype Imaging Inc. When our website’s content is displayed on the user’s display, fonts from Monotype Imaging Inc.‘s server are being retreived. If and which additional data is being transmitted to the provider by accessing its website and how it handles the data you can see in its privacy statement. You can use suitable technical means to prevent the embedding of Fonts. If you do this, our content will be displayed with a standard font.

We have also integrated fonts provided by Google Fonts. The service is provided by the US company Google LLC. When our website’s content is displayed on the user’s display, fonts from Google‘s server are being retreived. If and which additional data is being transmitted to the provider by accessing its website and how it handles the data you can see in its privacy statement. You can use suitable technical means to prevent the embedding of Google Fonts. If you do this, our content will be displayed with a standard font.

We have integrated the online map service Google Maps, namely a map section showing our location. This service is provided by the US company Google LLC. To find out which additional information you send to the provider when visiting the site, and how this provider handles the data, please see their privacy statement. Please note that any interactions with the integrated content (e.g. when calculating an access route) may collect additional data which is then not processed by us, but rather exclusively by Google Maps. You can take suitable technical measures to prevent map sections being embedded. By doing so, said map sections will not be displayed.

External content is embedded in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest in interating the virtual showroom is based on the fact that it allows us to present our exhibitors‘ products in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Our legitimate interest in integrating fonts.com and Google Fonts is based on the fact that it enables us to offer our website visitors an aesthetically appealing website. Our legitimate interest in integrating Google Maps is based on the fact that it allows us to easily explain to our customers how to find us at our location.

We ourselves do not collect any additional data through the embedding. The privacy statements issued by the aforementioned providers of the embedded information specifies when personal data collected when accessing third-party content is deleted. 

Transmission of data to third-party providers as part of the embedding is not required by law or contract and is not required in order to conclude a contract with us.

6. Newsletter mailings

Our website enables you to subscribe to a newsletter with advertising content. To do this, you can enter your email address and first name into a registration form. This data is then recorded and stored by us, and used to send future newsletters. For mailing purposes, the data entered by you is sent to an external service provider, with whom we have concluded a-processing contract.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we also store your IP address and the date of subscription. This storage serves as proof in the event a third party misuses an email address and subscribes to the newsletter without the owner‘s knowledge.

We also obtain the recipient’s express consent to receive promotional messages in an electronic format according to Section 7(2)(3) UWG (German Act against Unfair Competition). In this context, we send the owner of the email address provided to us an email asking them to confirm their newsletter subscription by email. This response email, the IP address and the time of sending is also stored by us for evidentiary purposes (double opt-in process).

The data is processed in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 6(1)(f)(47)(7) GDPR. Our legitimate interest here is based on the notion of informing our customers of our services through direct advertising, preventing the misuse of email addresses, and being able to prove that the newsletter recipient expressly gave consent to the mailing of electronic promotional messages.

We store your data until you unsubscribe from the newsletter or revoke your consent.

Providing your data for the newsletter mailing is not required by law or contract, and is not required in order to conclude a contract. If you do not provide your email address, however, we cannot send you a newsletter.

7. Your rights as the affected party

You have the right:

- in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, to request information on your personal data processed by us. You can particularly request information on the processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or is disclosed, the planned storage duration, the existence of a right to rectify, erase, restrict processing or object, the existence of a right to lodge a complaint, the origin of your data (insofar as this has not been collected by us), the existence of automated decision-making including profiling, and, if applicable, detailed information on this;

- in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR, to immediately request the rectification of incorrect personal data or the completion of personal data stored by us;

- in accordance with Art. 17 GDPR, to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary in order to exercise the right to freedom of expression and information, to fulfil a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest, or to assert, exercise or defend legal claims;

- in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR, to request a restriction of the processing of your personal data, insofar as you dispute the accuracy of the data, the processing is unlawful, you object to the data being deleted and we no longer need it, but you need it to assert, exercise or defend legal claims, or you have lodged an objection to the processing in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR;

- in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR, to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a structured, conventional, machine-readable format, or to request for it to be sent to another responsible party;

- in accordance with Art. 7(3) GDPR, to revoke the consent you have provided to us at any time. This will mean we are no longer able to keep processing data as per your original consent, and 

- in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR, to lodge a complaint to a supervisory authority.

8. Right of objection

Insofar as your personal data is processed based on legitimate interests as per Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR, you are entitled, under Art. 21 GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data, insofar as there are relevant grounds pertaining to your particular situation or the objection is against direct advertising. In the case of the latter, you have a general right of objection, which we implement without reference to a particular situation. If you wish to exercise your right of revocation or objection, simply let us know.

9. Security and data encryption

Our company uses technical and organisational security measures to protect your data managed by us against any accidental or deliberate tampering, loss or destruction, and against unauthorised access. Our security measures are constantly being improved in keeping with technological developments.

Whenever you are asked to enter data about yourself, your data shall be protected using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to ensure it cannot be read by unauthorised parties when being sent over the Internet.
